Insights, success, and what's ahead in the Creator Economy!

powered by Nfinity Influencer, Webfluential and theSalt

Discovery is no longer happening in one place.

Your website is competing with AI summaries. Your brand reputation is being shaped by Reddit threads, reviews, creator content and social search. Your best campaign may not be a campaign at all, but a cultural moment, a creator-led growth engine, or a community story people actually believe.

This month, we’re looking at the shift from attention to trust, from reach to relevance, and from owned channels to everywhere your audience makes decisions.

Powered by our trio of brands, this edition brings together the conversations marketers should be paying attention to now: AI search, creator-led commercial growth, social-first creativity, campaign ROI, CTV, word-of-mouth bias and the growing role of real communities in brand building.

🏆 BROADCAST

📰 Creator partnerships are moving from “nice-to-have” brand exposure into measurable commercial growth. Webfluential’s latest article unpacks why creator marketing is becoming a strategic part of the marketing mix, helping brands sell, build trust, generate reusable content and strengthen communities.

The piece explores six shifts shaping creator marketing in 2026, from creator commerce and community-powered UGC to long-term partnerships, better ROI measurement, sports talent collaborations and the growing influence of private communities.

📢 Creators are no longer just media placements. They are becoming full-funnel growth partners.

SA brands using flat rate creator models can redirect 40-50% more budget to paid amplification, capturing the fastest-growing segment of the $37.1 billion creator economy.

📰 Taco Bell turned its product pipeline into a keynote-style media event, revealing dozens of launches at once instead of drip-feeding announcements. By blending livestreamed reveals, influencer coverage, fan access, app-gated exclusives and loyalty rewards, the brand created more than a product launch. It built a content engine.

📢 The smartest brands are not just launching products. They are turning launches into cultural moments people want to follow.

📰 High ROAS does not automatically mean a campaign is ready to scale. Feeding more budget into an already optimised campaign can increase costs without producing incremental revenue, especially when growth is limited by rank, demand or platform learning periods.

The strongest case for scaling is when a campaign is genuinely constrained by budget, not by quality, competitiveness or demand generation.

📢 Do not scale because a dashboard looks good. Scale when the market, margin and campaign mechanics can actually support growth.

📰 Research across Yelp, Amazon, Twitter and Instagram found that larger companies often receive lower online ratings, even when product quality is equal. The driver is empathy. Consumers feel more emotionally connected to smaller businesses and are more likely to support them publicly, while holding bigger brands to a harsher standard.

📢 Small brands often win because people want them to win. Big brands need to work harder to feel human.

🎭 THE CAST

📰 Casey Patterson runs ABM (Account-Based Marketing) for North America at Snowflake, managing 23 marketers with one core mission: drive revenue through account-based marketing.

Her biggest lesson? Your sales team is the bottleneck, not your total addressable market. Instead of targeting every possible account, Snowflake works backwards from sales capacity. If sales cannot follow up properly, marketing has not created opportunity. It has created expensive noise.

The second lesson is the “swarm”: compressing multiple channels around one priority account for a short, focused window. One Snowflake play combined an onsite lab, geo-fenced out-of-home ads, gifting and SDR outreach over two weeks, doubling Cortex users inside the account.

Casey also busts the myth that ABM needs a six-figure MarTech stack. Her starter pack is refreshingly simple: 1:1 landing pages, direct mail, curated dinners, customer-to-customer conversations and strong sales alignment around the accounts that matter most.

The future of ABM, she argues, looks less like a campaign calendar and more like Netflix: personalised by account, channel preference and prior engagement, rather than pushing the same message to every buyer at the same time.

📢 ABM is not about targeting more accounts. It is about focusing the right channels, at the right time, around the accounts sales can actually move.

🔮 FORECAST

With FIFA World Cup 26™ kicking off soon, soccer is about to dominate conversations across screens, timelines and communities. For brands, this creates a rare opportunity to connect with highly engaged sports audiences through talent that already carries trust, recognition and cultural relevance.

This month’s Sports Talent Spotlight focuses on Webfluential’s growing roster of soccer talent, including respected South African names across professional football, sports lifestyle and fan-led influence.

📰 AI tools are shaping brand perception before users ever reach a website. With 60% of Google searches ending without a click and AI Overviews reducing organic click-through rates, brands are no longer only competing for rankings. They are competing to be accurately represented in summaries, answer engines and third-party sources.

The sharpest warning? Many page-one brands are not mentioned in AI answers at all, because AI pulls from wider evidence, not rankings alone.

🥜 In a nutshell: Your website is no longer the final destination. It is one source in a much bigger AI-shaped perception layer.

📰 Young creatives still chase big-budget TV assignments, yet audiences are spending more time in social environments. The article argues that brands need to align production budgets, incentives and agency structures with where people actually consume content.

Instead of building campaigns around one hero TV execution, marketers should create flexible brand systems that work across social, search, video and always-on environments.

🥜 In a nutshell: The prestige channel is not always the growth channel. Creativity needs to follow attention.

📰 World Cup search behaviour is changing. Top-of-funnel queries that once drove huge traffic are now increasingly answered by AI Overviews and rich SERP features. Publishers and brands need to focus on specific tactical breakdowns, political commentary, investigative angles and multimodal content that still demand a human perspective.

YouTube, Reddit and TikTok are also gaining SERP visibility, making indexable video and structured data more important.

🥜 In a nutshell: For major events, generic SEO is losing ground. Specific, human-led and multimedia content wins.

☁️ OVERCAST

AI summaries are becoming the new front door to brands. Users increasingly get their first impression from Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Reddit threads, YouTube videos, reviews and forum discussions before they ever click through to a website.

That means the old playbook of “rank the page, win the visit” is breaking down.

The risk is not only losing traffic. It is losing control of the narrative. If AI systems summarise your brand using outdated reviews, thin third-party content or weak external signals, your website may never get the chance to correct the story.

This is where AEO, creator content and community proof start to overlap. Brands need stronger owned content, but they also need credible off-site signals: creator reviews, customer stories, Reddit visibility, YouTube explainers, comparison content, active communities and refreshed brand pages that AI systems can trust.

💡 Takeaway: Your website still matters, but it no longer speaks alone. In the AI search era, brand perception is built everywhere your audience and the algorithms look for proof.

🎙 PODCASTS WORTH YOUR TIME

Where are creators really building, and who owns the value?

The conversation explores organic trust, platform dependency and the discipline required to build influence that lasts. Creators produce the raw material, upload it to platforms they do not own, and those same platforms redistribute it back to local audiences, sometimes behind a paywall. It is a structural problem the industry needs to discuss more honestly.
